On Saturday, March 9th, the Moroccan Students Association in Barcelona organized the conference “The importance of chess in the stimulation of intelligence and the creation of social ties” by D. Luis Luna, president of the youth association to learn science.
The speaker began his presentation by approaching psychological and philosophical aspects of chess. The conference was divided into three sections: origins of chess in the Arab culture, the relationship between chess and science and ultimately the creation of social bonds through play. The audience showed great interest and were especially participatory with their questions, arousing admiration for the close relationship between the entertainment and science and the very involvement of scientists since the eighteenth century.
In short, it’s an exciting game, a metaphor for life, a rich scattering contributing to the development of human values and comprehensive training. Also it provides a vast culture (both scientific and humanistic disciplines), streamlines the mind, develops concentration and allows deep bonding, among many other benefits.
